About the program

Built for the people who take care of everyone else

The Hypertension Prevention Program for First Responders is a Mount Sinai initiative, developed with Mount Sinai Fuster Heart Hospital, that helps firefighters, EMS and other first responders catch high blood pressure early — before it becomes a heart attack, a stroke, or a line-of-duty disability.

High blood pressure is one of the most common health risks in the fire and EMS services, and it usually has no symptoms at all. The only way to know where you stand is to measure it. This program makes that easy: you get a Bluetooth blood pressure cuff, an app that records every reading automatically, and a nurse coach who reaches out if your numbers suggest you need follow-up.

Enrollment runs through your union, which verifies your membership. The program is open to members and their families, and your health information is encrypted and handled under HIPAA — it is never shared with your employer.
